Von Smith is a journalist from Louisville’s South End studying photojournalism at Western Kentucky University's nationally recognized Visual Journalism and Photography program.
Von was inspired to pursue photography by his collection of 300-plus National Geographic magazines. His favorite lens is the 24mm 1.4 and he loves used equipment because it’s less upsetting when it's inevitably destroyed.
Although photojournalism is his first love, Von also enjoys climbing, hiking, and fixing whatever is broken on his 25-year-old car.
To see the world,
things dangerous to come to.
To see behind walls,
to draw closer.
To find each other,
and to feel.
That is the purpose of life.
